The following posts are made by Tamara's aunt, while Tamara was in the hospital (2011).
2011-06-27 (A month after surgery)
“Tamara is getting better. She is going to be able to lead a difficult but more normal life,” Dorene (Tamara's mom) said. “She is not anywhere near ready to go home. I take care of her. She needs safety right now. She is scared of things. But she is getting better.”
“Every day she has progressed a little bit here and there. The
therapist had her sit at the table this morning and take a rag in her hand and
pretend she is wiping the table off using circles. Then she goes back and forth, like she is cleaning the table off. It
is extremely hard for her. She did eight this morning.
“She is finally able to take her own shower and wash her hair and tries to do laundry. She washed the rugs in the bathroom twice since she has been
here. She has been here at my house for two weeks tomorrow. She went 24
hours yesterday without pain medication (Tylenol), which was a little too long.
The Tylenol helps her handle noise. She walks about
a half a mile a day now, with assistance.”
“She is going to be here a little bit longer. God gave her
another chance."
