Brain Tumor Walk
I participated in the yearly Brain Tumor Walk, which was held around the Sloans Lake, right next to the hospital where I had a few brain surgeries. I felt it was significant because I stayed on the rehab floor at the hospital for at least a couple of weeks after each surgery, and often looked out onto that lake which represented hope and healing. Now, ironically, the walk was around that same lake that gave me hope. The blue shirt represented brain cancer survivors. The white shirt was for caretakers and loved ones. The other significant note was that for an entire year after my third surgery, I had major walking difficulties, and many times fell down when overstimulated. The idea of walking around the entire lake was huge, but the fact that I actually did it, with no assistance, is a true miracle!
